Less known, however, are the concrete acts of translation of corporate social responsibility (CSR) in the post-Fordist, characterized by the prevalence of human capital on the financial or creative work on the machine. The traditional tools of CSR, the social budget to report on environmental sustainability, from paper to the ethical code of values, are still necessary but not sufficient to characterize today as a socially responsible company. Just think of Enron and Parmalat were among the first companies to adopt these systems internally so-called social accountability .
Social responsibility must be pursued in economic terms, even more than on that of equity, to increase the productivity of factors of production. I will try to justify what was said, with particular reference to CSR in relation to one of the most important subjects stakeholders, their workers.
The economic activity of an enterprise is typically offered through two major inputs: labor and capital (eg machinery). Depending on the historical stages and characteristics of the producer is different specificity the two factors. Fordist era of industrial society and the capital asset was the specific and the work was very specialized and almost completely replaced. At this historic social responsibility has been interpreted by giving entrepreneurs some of their profits to workers in the form of services. The classic example is the construction of kindergartens, gymnasiums or cafeterias within companies. In the modern era of post-Fordism and the knowledge society for creative work and has become specialized for specific asset value creation. The old practice of CSR, in truth much more related to philanthropy, not enough and in some cases do not work right. Social responsibility must be the element of innovation to create a new way of doing business that puts the focus of the person, thus increasing its productivity. The responsible entrepreneur can get the most from the worker is allowed to participate in the economic game, valuing the talents and creativity even extrapolating the last arrived. One way to do it, for example, is to invest in human capital formation to mobilize the knowledge "tacit" or not revealed because of the person linked to the inherent capabilities and operational know-how that manifests itself only when it is put in place.
To continue to be an entrepreneur today is not socially responsible enough to enter the market with more sophisticated trappings of social accountability, which have been created pathetic cultural fashions, paternalistic or services by the workers because much like telling the fox to the Little Prince of Saint -Exupéry "the essential is invisible to the eye."
